About Millstream Home

Millstream Home was created as an ode to Amish heritage. Jake grew up on a Lancaster farm, raised Amish until 16, and Janelle is a first-generation non-Amish woman—born after her parents left the Amish culture, yet deeply shaped by their rich Amish roots.

Their childhoods inspired a love for craftsmanship, imagination, and meaningful homes. As they built their own family life along the Millstream, filled with children, dreams, and entrepreneurship, they realized they had little from their childhoods to pass down. What makes an object an heirloom? Could they start creating them now?

In early 2016, Janelle drove countless hours down back roads, searching for talented makers still using historic production methods.  The makers' stories became theirs, and Millstream Home was born.

Janelle and Jake believe in mindful purchasing and supporting local, American-made artisans, from quilters and basket weavers to blacksmiths and potters. Each piece comes from someone’s hands, heart, and home, not a factory.
